It all started in 1972 when the husband of a close friend passed away. All of a sudden the woman had found herself unlicensed with no husband to teach her how to drive. Sheila Burdett, as a good friend and a confident, licenced driver, offered to teach her. The lessons went well and Sheila soon discovered a new talent as a driving instructor. 

After teaching a few more friends Sheila undertook training to become a qualified driving instructor; and so Eastern Suburbs Driving School was born. Not long after, Sheila's husband Paul joined her in the business as a fellow instructor and later their daughter Sarah too. 

In search of expert advice Sheila & Paul headed over to the United States to research driver training. They bought back with them a wealth of knowledge, resources and new teaching methods. Eastern Suburbs Driving School eventually became The Amalgamted Auto Academy (AAA Driving School) because in those days, long before Google searches, AAA would be featured first in the Yellow pages! 

Triple A continues to grow and change with the times; since Sarah took over in 1990 we have diversified to cover commercial driver training and defensive driving in addition to practical driving lessons. We recently created a new course for learner drivers and bought our booking system into the 21st century - two things we are very excited about! 

We have trained several generations of our loyal customer's families and we take pride in the fact that we're one of Wellington's best known and longest standing driving schools. We look forward to having you & your family become a part of our story.
