Teaching new drivers can be a stressful time for all involved; testing the most solid relationships.  We find many parents prefer to have a professional instructor do all of the teaching & practice (too scary or too many arguments!) OR to do all of the teaching and practice themselves (too expensive!). We've always recommended a joint effort between parents/supervisors and a professional driving instructor to give the learner driver the best preparation possible for their driving future.

JUMP START is an investment in a safe driving future


We have developed the JUMP START course to help learners & their supervisors achieve the 120 practice hours necessary to pass the new Restricted Licence test (in effect Feb 2012). The course is made up of both theory & practical elements and will provide the tools to:
  • give parents/supervisors the confidence to take practice sessions
  • prevent arguments, tears & door slamming
  • keep the costs of instruction to a minimum
  • get the learner up-skilled and competent faster
One of our qualified, patient instructors will get the learner started with the basics and build their skill and knowledge to a point where parents/supervisors can feel confident to step in and provide regular practice sessions between their professional lessons. The combination of professional instruction and regular practice will help to the learner to retain more from their  lessons plus you will save $$$ in the long run as they will require fewer lessons overall!

The Jump Start course includes:


​1  hr Theory session for the learner driver & their supervisor covering lesson structure, tips & tricks, pit falls to avoid and generally preparing both learner & supervisor for the road ahead.

1 hr Practical ‘on road’ sessions for the learner driver & their supervisor looking at basic car control, stopping & starting safely, gear changing and assessing current ability to set a plan forward from here.

If the learner has already had some practice or experience the instructor will cover more advanced topics based on their needs & skill level. Its important that the supervisor attends both sessions with the learner driver. We schedule the theory sessions at varied times including afternoon & evening to fit in with different lifestyles. Following this, the practical session time is booked for a suitable time. This is conducted in our car or your car. Further lessons can be arranged as required at our discounted package rates.

The course costs $95 per learner driver—the supervisor(s) attend for free (if both parents will be involved in the practice session then both are welcome to attend)
